Orchestra in Folkus will be at Horwich RMI on Friday 7th December performing a mixture of material including traditional NW tunes and Christmas carols. We’re sharing the concert with Kadenza who are a womens acapella choir and will also be joined by some circle dancers who will be teaching their dances to members of the audience.

The concert starts at 7.30pm, Tickets are £7/£5 and available on the door. Horwich RMI is at the junction of Ramsbottom Road and Chorley New Road in Horwich just opposite the fire station, postcode BL6 65NH. There is parking and a fully licenced bar.

Saturday 29th September
Saturday 27th October
Saturday 10th November
Saturday 24th November

I’ll let you know when I’ve got the confirmation back.

We also have Sunday rehearsals at the high school in Leyland 11am – 3pm on;
October 14th
November 18th
December 2nd

We will be working on new seasonal material for the concert at Horwich RMI on Friday 7th December. We’ll also use Ashokan Farewell, Dusty Kitten & Starry Legs.

There are a few new / newer people on this email, Dusty Kitten is a set of 3/2 hornpipes which includes the Dusty Miller, Punchinellos Hornpipe, Old Lanchashire hornpipe and Our Cat has Kitted. Starry Legs starts with The 7 Stars jig, goes into Trip to Cartmel as a 6/8 jig and then a 4/4 and finishes with Iron Legs. You will find most of the music for these tunes on the website & I promise to get organised and update it with anything that’s missing!

I’m looking at Silent Night, the Coventry Carol, Sweet Chiming Bells and a jingle bells based medley.

If you’re involved in any local events you would like us to perform at please let me know.

See you all soon, Jenny
